Mountaineering Safaris
Summit Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya, the Rwenzoris and the Virunga volcanoes.
East Africa has some of the most rewarding mountains on earth, and most of them need no technical climbing experience — just good fitness, the right pace and a strong support team. Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world, Mount Kenya's jagged peaks rise straight off the equator, the glaciated Rwenzoris are the fabled Mountains of the Moon, and Rwanda's Virunga volcanoes pair a summit with some of the best forest scenery in Africa. Closer to home, Mount Longonot's crater rim in the Rift Valley makes one of the best day hikes from Nairobi.
Every climb we arrange is led by licensed mountain guides with porters and a cook, on routes paced for acclimatisation rather than speed — the single biggest factor in reaching the top safely. We match the mountain and route to your experience and the time you have, and can add a wildlife safari or a few days on the beach once you're back down.
The best climbing windows are the drier months, roughly January to early March and June to October, though most mountains can be climbed year-round with the right kit.
